Mark graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 1995 with a veterinary degree and a first class degree in neuroscience. He came to Wright and Morten as a young assistant in 1999.
Mark shares responsibility for the equine side of the practice and the day to day running of the Somerford Park clinic with Claire Phillips. Mark has a particular interest in equine dentistry, and has qualified as an Equine Dental Technician. He is also responsible for our Riding Club Inspections and our Equine Export Licenses.
In September 2004 Mark gained a Certificate in Equine Practice awarded by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. He is a RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in Equine Practice.
Mark became the Managing Partner in 2014 with an overview for developing the practice people and encouraging team work and growth. In 2017 Mark completed the further qualification Certificate in Veterinary Business Management. He chaired the XL Vets Equine Executive between 2016 and 2019, before seeing the practice through to acquisition by IVC Evidensia in late 2019.
Mark is now one of our Clinical Directors. He has joint responsibilities for both his day to day equine veterinary caseload and also the smooth running of the practice overall.
Outside of work Mark loves a combination of running, biking and swimming and can be regularly seen plodding around local road races and triathlons. He’s a keen beekeeper, and is always happy to chat bees with anyone who will listen.
